An intimate songwriter series where the voices behind country music's greatest hits share the untold stories that made them.

The son of a professional bull rider turned stuntman, C. Thomas Howell started working in the film industry at the age of seven. In 1981, he was cast as ‘Tyler’ in Steven Spielberg’s E.T. The Extra Terrestrial. Shortly thereafter, he nabbed the lead in Francis Ford Coppola’s classic, The Outsiders, starring opposite the likes of Diane Lane, Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon and Tom Cruise. It was Howell’s gripping performance as the tough, yet vulnerable ‘Ponyboy Curtis’ in The Outsiders that made him a household name virtually overnight.
Earmarked as one of the most promising young actors of the 1980s, Howell’s career soon skyrocketed with roles in films such as the cold war invasion drama Red Dawn, the psychological thriller The Hitcher, and the hilarious but controversial college farce Soul Man. Since then, Howell has been in consistent demand with filmmakers for the last thirty years, appearing in favorites such as That Night, Gettysburg and Hidalgo.
Howell has found himself cast in several recurring roles in three popular television series such as: Outcast for Cinemax TV, Stitchers on Freeform TV and Showtime’s Ray Donovan. Howell has appeared in the Marvel/Netflix series, The Punisher as well as the hit CBS-TV series Seal Team. Howell can also be seen in the CW’s Dynasty series, CBS’ McGyver and AMC’s Walking Dead. He also co-starred opposite Woody Harrelson in the Rob Reiner directed feature film LBJ. Additionally, Howell also had recurring roles on NBC’s long-running drama series The Blacklist with James Spader and Bravo’s Girlfriends Guide to Divorce.
Howell co-starred as the unpredictable Officer Bill “Dewey” Dudek in the TNT smash hit drama series Southland as well as appearing in a special episode of Hawaii 5-0 while also making several guest appearances as the serial killer, “The Reaper” on CBS’ Criminal Minds. His many television appearances include The Glades on A&E as well as Torchwood on the Starz Channel and TNT’s Animal Kingdom. He also played a key role in Sony’s blockbuster film, The Amazing Spider Man.
Most recently, Howell reprised his role of Ray, in Season 11, the final season of The Walking Dead. He also finished filming the biographical historical drama film Reagan, where he plays the controversial politician, Casper Weinberger. The film is scheduled for 2022 release.
Outside of his acting career, Howell is an accomplished team roper, enjoys a good game of golf, loves playing his guitar and writing songs and spending as much time as possible on the ranch and being with his family.

Originally from LaFayette, Georgia, Ben Chapman is a Nashville-based country artist known for his soulful voice and guitar playing. He is heavily influenced by the sounds of the 70's, pairing the groove-driven Southern music of bands like the Allman Brothers and Little Feat with the hard-hitting country sounds of Hank Williams, Jr. and the writing prowess of songwriters like Guy Clark and Roger Miller.
Playing in bars across North Georgia since he was 17, Ben has always considered himself to be an old soul in the new age of country music. He has garnered quick attention from seasoned songwriters in Nashville, cutting his teeth at local joints during the week and touring the South East on the weekends. In 2021, he signed a publishing deal with Hang Your Hat Music, a co-venture between ACM Songwriter of the Year, Hillary Lindsey, and Concord Music.
In 2020, he began working in the studio with producer Jake Gear (Hailey Whitters, Flatland Cavalry) to hone his sound that is rooted in the traditions of his influences, but that authentically pushes the country format into the next decade. These sessions resulted in his forthcoming debut LP - Hippie Speedball, set for release in 2021. : https://www.benchapmanmusic.com

It’s impossible to ignore the geographical influences that shape the sound and songs of East Arkansas Native Barrett Baber.

Baber has since registered his second Cody Johnson cut with the song titled “God Bless The Boy.”
In 2021, Barrett signed a co-publishing deal with Music Row staple Sea Gayle Music and legendary songwriter Bobby Pinson.

Averie Bielski is a Nashville-based singer/songwriter originally from Roswell, Georgia.

The Tradition -------
Nashville's songwriter round is one of music's most intimate traditions — a circle of writers, each telling the story behind the song before playing it. No backing band. No staging. Just a guitar, a voice, and the truth of where the song came from.
Southern Rounds brings that tradition to Analog @ The Hutton Hotel — Nashville's finest listening room — featuring the writers behind some of country music's most celebrated recordings.

THE ARTISTS ------
Growing up in Arkansas, Erin Enderlin was drawn to her papaw's record collection — before she even hit kindergarten, she was hooked on country music. Today, Rolling Stone says her songs are "the stuff of country classics — concise, tear-stained, and all too relatable.
"Elton John spotlighted her on his Rocket Hour show. The Country Music Hall of Fame featured her in its American Currents exhibit. A regular on the Grand Ole Opry — 30 appearances and counting — Enderlin has seen 50+ of her songs recorded by Lee Ann Womack, Reba, Willie Nelson, Luke Bryan, and The War and Treaty. She recently co-wrote "Blood in the River" for an upcoming 2026 Amazon Prime series produced by Morgan Freeman and Kevin Costner.
Moose won the Grammy Award for Best Country Song for co-writing "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" — Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett's iconic anthem. As a touring musician he was a core member of Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band.
As a producer, he co-produced Jamey Johnson's That Lonesome Song — ACM and CMA Song of the Year for "In Color," Grammy-nominated for Album of the Year. The ACM Piano/Keyboard Player of the Year (2015, 2017, 2023), Moose has played on over 40 #1 singles and soundtracks including Pixar's Cars. Inducted into both the Arkansas and Michigan Country Music Halls of Fame.
Multi-instrumentalist Alex Kline is among Nashville's premier No. 1 hit producers and songwriters. She made history as the first woman to solely produce a Mediabase #1 country hit with Tenille Arts' "Somebody Like That."
Nominated for AIMP Nashville Rising Songwriter of the Year and Music Row's Female Songwriter of the Year, her production work spans Tenille Arts, Tigirlily Gold, Harper Grace, Terri Clark, Maggie Rose, Ronnie Dunn, and more. Kline writes for Curb-Word Publishing.
Emerging from the heart of Arkansas, Sofie Smithson is a powerhouse country vocalist and songwriter leading the breakout band Sofie and The New Relics. With a voice reminiscent of Loretta Lynn and the storytelling spark of Emmylou Harris, Sofie blends classic country soul with modern Americana edge.
Reviewers consistently note her ability to connect deeply with audiences — making every performance feel personal and alive.
What Audiences Say
"
I've been to dozens of shows in Nashville. Nothing comes close to the intimacy of Southern Rounds. When the writer tells you where a song came from, you can never hear it the same way again.
